Residential Architect Portfolio - Environmentally Sustainable Architecture Residential Residential - Mountain

Mountain Park LEED Platinum Home:
Located in upstate SC, this residence capitalizes on views to Table Rock and Cleveland Cliffs and situated on a northerly-sloped woodland. The design strategy overcomes poor orientation for passive solar heating by incorporating hidden solar thermal collectors in the southern facing zinc roofs. These collectors harvest solar energy for radiant heating and for domestic water heating. Solar PV collectors are also concealed within a flat portion of the roof. Also, the zinc roof is optimized for harvesting rain water for irrigation of the restored native landscape and wildlife habitat. The primary building materials are locally quarried stone, sustainably forested cedar, and natural zinc.
