Lonesome Valley
With elevations ranging from 3,200 feet at the valley floor to 4,100 feet atop Cow Rock Mountain, Lonesome Valley is comprised of just under 800 acres. Land planning provides for approximately 200 lots, and development is proceeding in phases. Phase I was opened in summer of 2006 and within 2 months all 30 lots were committed. Currently Phases II and III are available. All utilities, including electric, phone and internet, are underground, and there is a community-wide water and wastewater system, removing the need for individual well or septic systems.
Lonesome Valley’s Architectural Review Program is unparalleled in its approach to home design. Primary objectives include creating structures that are subtle, secondary to their natural setting and in proper scale within their enviroment. These designs embrace a philosophy borrowing from the historic Cashiers-Highlands-Toxaway mountain camps and estates while reflecting the regional tradition of southern Appalachia. Lonesome Valley has been a family farm for generations, and so it shall remain for future generations.

Wade Hampton Golf Club
HIGH IN THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS of North Carolina, the village of Cashiers makes a bucolic setting for secluded Wade Hampton Golf Club. Encircled by 28,000 acres of national forest and rising 3,486 feet above sea level, this area has retained the same natural beauty described by Thomas Wolfe in Look Homeward Angel.
Cashiers has been a favorite vacation spot for generations. Southern families are attracted by the cool summers and dramatic views of these mountains. In the early days, fishing was said to be the main attraction; golf was just one of several sporting activities along with boating, riding, and tennis. Later the popularity of golf grew and many courses were built near Cashiers in the 1950s and 1960s. The area became widely known for the quality of its resort and retirement golf. THE RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY at Wade Hampton is limited to 300 homes. A carefully structured development plan assures that the integrity of golf is not compromised by residential development; accordingly, homes with golf course frontage are confined to the perimeter of the course.
