Furman University Bell Tower Housing:
This phased campus housing renovation project included providing LEED/EarthCraft design strategies to the existing Bell Tower Cottages located near Furman’s landmark BellTower. During the first phase, cottages received heavy timber porch additions to their entry facades.
Geothermal wells and solar hot water were implemented, along with highly efficient insulation and HVAC design. Existing exterior siding was retained and updated with low VOC paint.
The second phase involved interior renovations, which highlighted the use of regional, certified and rapidly renewable materials.
