200 Whitsett Street:
Historic buildings
represent America's democratic, spiritual, and educational ideals. Only
through preservation and adaptive reuse will these artifacts that define
our neighborhoods, towns, and cities survive for future generations to use
and enjoy. This building is a significant example of 1920's residential
architecture - representing Shingle Style and Arts & Crafts influences.
As the city prospered, this residence deteriorated while the neighborhood
transformed to commercial activities. Through an adaptive reuse approach
it was converted to new and economically viable uses while the significant
architectural features were respected and preserved.
